To get straight to the point: life is short and I want to make a positive impact with the time that I have.

Be it through my day to day work as a Strategic Advisory Consultant at Mott MacDonald, the Centre for Asset Studies Think Tank I co-founded, my role with The Institute of Asset Management, the cook books I co-authored, my volunteering for the charity WACA, or most importantly through relationships and interactions with other people.

Given my academic background and professional experience in applied computer science, and in the context of all the AI hype, I’ve recently focused in on Artificial Intelligence. I’ve tried to balance the genuinely amazing technology shift we are living through, with a certain amount of realism and skepticim about the more wild claims.

To summarise:

• No, AI isn’t going to replace all jobs.

• Yes, AI is going to change every aspect of our lives.

• The gap between what technology can do, and what we actually do is massive.

• I’m all about closing that gap (typically, within infrastructure businesses)
